Under-eye filler places a small amount of hyaluronic acid gel in the hollow between the lower eyelid and the cheek, called the tear trough. It can soften shadows and make you look more rested.
The under-eye area is delicate, and not everyone is a good candidate, so your provider will look closely at the cause of your under-eye concerns first.
What it treats
- Hollows or grooves under the eyes
- Shadows that make you look tired
- A sharp line between the lower eyelid and cheek
What it does not treat
Filler does not remove puffy under-eye bags or excess skin, and it does not change dark circles that come from skin pigment. Your provider may suggest other treatments for those.
What to expect
During the treatment
The area is numbed and the filler is placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula. Treatment takes about 30 minutes.
After the treatment
Mild swelling and bruising are common for a few days. Sleep with your head slightly raised the first night.
Results
Results are visible right away and can last about a year or longer.

Is it safe?
Under-eye filler requires careful assessment. Risks include persistent swelling, lumps, discoloration and infection. Accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause skin injury, blindness or stroke. Your provider will discuss product-specific suitability and alternatives.
Can it be reversed?
Hyaluronidase can break down hyaluronic acid filler, but removal may be incomplete, need repeat treatment or cause side effects. It cannot reliably reverse every complication.
Who is a good candidate?
People with hollowing and good skin quality under the eyes usually do best. Your provider will tell you if another option would suit you better.
