Years of sun exposure damage the skin. That damage shows up as sun spots, wrinkles, rough patches, broken blood vessels and a higher risk of skin cancer. Some people also have sun sensitivity, meaning their skin reacts to sunlight with a rash, sometimes from a medicine or a skin condition.
Rashes after sun exposure can come from polymorphous light eruption, medicines like some antibiotics and blood pressure pills, lupus and other causes. We work out the cause and recommend treatment and protection.
Offered at all of our offices.
No. Daily sunscreen helps prevent new damage and lowers your skin cancer risk at any age.
A broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, applied every day and reapplied every 2 hours when outdoors, and after swimming or sweating as directed on the label. Choose water-resistant sunscreen for swimming or exercise.
