A chemical peel uses a solution to remove damaged outer layers of skin, so fresher skin comes to the surface. Peels range from light, with little downtime, to deeper, with more peeling and stronger results.

We offer VI Peel, TCA, Jessner's and SkinCeuticals peels. Your provider will choose the peel based on your skin, your goals and how much downtime you can plan for.

What it treats

  • Uneven tone, brown spots and melasma
  • Acne and acne marks
  • Sun damage
  • Rough texture and dullness
  • Fine lines

What to expect

How to prepare

Stop retinoids and exfoliants a few days before your peel unless your provider tells you otherwise. Avoid tanning. If you get cold sores, let us know.

During the treatment

The skin is cleansed and the peel solution is applied in layers. Most people feel tingling or warmth for a few minutes. The visit is usually quick.

After the treatment

Light peels may cause mild flaking for a few days. With a VI Peel, you leave the solution on for several hours, and peeling usually starts around day 3 and lasts a few days. Do not pick or peel the skin. Use gentle skincare and sunscreen.

Results

Skin looks brighter and smoother once peeling is done, usually within about a week. Many people do a series of peels spaced a few weeks apart.

Deeper peels

Deeper peels, such as phenol peels, have much longer recovery and are done only after a consultation.

What is a VI Peel?

A medium-depth peel that blends several acids to improve tone, texture, acne and sun damage. You take home a kit to use while your skin peels.

Which peel is right for me?

It depends on your skin type, your concerns and how much downtime you want. Your provider will recommend one at your visit.

Does a peel hurt?

Most peels cause tingling or warmth for a few minutes.

How much will I peel?

Light peels cause little flaking. With a VI Peel, most people peel for a few days starting around day 3.

Can I wear makeup after?

Your provider will tell you when, based on your peel. Many people can wear makeup the next day after a light peel.

Are peels safe for darker skin?

Many peels can be used on darker skin tones. Your provider will choose a peel and strength that is safe for your skin.

How often can I get a peel?

It depends on the peel. Light peels can be repeated every few weeks. Deeper peels are done less often.
