Milia are tiny, hard, white bumps that form when dead skin cells get trapped just under the surface. They are most common around the eyes, cheeks and nose. They are very common in newborns, and adults get them too.
Milia are harmless, but many people want them removed.
How we treat them
- Extraction: a tiny opening is made and the bump is gently removed
- Prescription retinoid creams to help prevent new milia
- Chemical peels for areas with many bumps

Q&A
Can I squeeze them out myself?
Milia are not like whiteheads and usually will not come out by squeezing. Trying can scar the skin, especially near the eyes.
Will they come back?
New milia can form. Some thick eye creams can contribute, so we may suggest changing products.
