Earlobe repair

Earlobes can tear or stretch from heavy earrings, gauges or an earring that gets pulled. Earlobe repair is a short procedure that aims to restore the shape of the earlobe.
What to expect
The earlobe is numbed with a small injection. The edges of the tear are trimmed and the earlobe is stitched closed. The procedure usually takes under an hour. Stitches are removed in about 1 to 2 weeks.
After your procedure
Keep the area clean as instructed, and avoid sleeping on that side for a few days. You can usually re-pierce the earlobe after it has fully healed, often a few months later. Ask your provider before re-piercing.

Will there be a scar?
There will be a thin scar that usually fades over time.
Can a keloid form?
People who have had keloids are more likely to form another. Tell your provider about any history of keloids so we can plan for it. See scars and keloids.
