Your First Botox Appointment in Palm Beach Gardens: What to Expect

If you have been thinking about Botox for a while, you are not alone. Botox and similar neurotoxins are among the most common cosmetic treatments in the country, and for good reason. They are quick, predictable and, in skilled hands, natural looking.

Still, the first appointment can feel like a big step. Here is exactly what to expect at our Palm Beach Gardens office, from consultation to results.

Key takeaways

  • Botox relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines, such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet.
  • A first visit includes a consultation, a short treatment and simple aftercare.
  • Results start to appear in a few days and are fully visible in about two weeks.
  • Results usually last about three to four months.
  • The goal is a softer, rested look, not a frozen one.

What Botox does

Botox is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes specific muscles. When those muscles move less, the lines they create soften, and new lines are less likely to deepen. Other neurotoxins, such as Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify, work in a similar way. Your provider can explain which one fits your goals.

Common areas treated

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows, often called the "11s"
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
  • Bunny lines on the sides of the nose
  • Lip lines and a subtle lip flip
  • Chin dimpling and a downturned mouth
  • Jaw muscles, for clenching or a slimmer jawline, covered on our masseter Botox page
  • Excessive sweating in the underarms, covered on our hyperhidrosis page

Before your appointment

  • Think about your goals. Which lines bother you most? Photos of yourself from a few years ago can help.
  • Plan around events. Results take up to two weeks to settle, so book at least two to three weeks before a wedding, trip or big event.
  • Mention your medications. Tell your provider about blood thinners, supplements and any neuromuscular conditions.
  • Avoid alcohol the night before to help reduce bruising.
  • Come with clean skin, or plan to remove makeup at the office.

Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What happens at your first visit

The consultation

Your provider asks about your goals and your medical history, then watches your face as you frown, raise your eyebrows and smile. Everyone's muscles are different, and this is how we plan where to place each injection and how much to use. It is also the time to ask questions and talk about how natural you want the result to look.

The treatment

The skin is cleaned, and the injection points may be marked. The injections themselves take only a few minutes. Very fine needles are used, and most patients describe the feeling as a quick pinch. Ice or a cooling device can make it more comfortable.

Right after

You may see small bumps at the injection sites for 15 to 30 minutes, and occasionally a small bruise. Most people go straight back to work or errands.

Aftercare

  • Stay upright for about four hours
  • Do not rub or massage the treated areas that day
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and hot yoga for the rest of the day
  • Avoid facials, facial massage and other face treatments for a few days
  • You can usually wear makeup the same day

When will I see results?

Most people start to notice a difference in three to five days. The full effect appears at about two weeks. Many providers recommend a follow-up around that time for first-time patients, so any small adjustments can be made.

Results usually last about three to four months, though it varies by area, dose and your own metabolism. With regular treatment, some people find their results last a little longer over time.

How to keep results natural

Natural results come from careful planning and the right amount of product for your face. A few principles we follow:

  • Treat the muscles that cause the lines you care about, not every line at once
  • Leave some movement, especially in the forehead, so your face still looks expressive
  • Start conservatively on a first visit. It is easy to add more, but you have to wait for results to wear off
  • Combine with skin quality treatments when lines are etched in at rest

For deeper lines that are visible even when your face is relaxed, Botox alone may not be enough. Options like dermal fillers, Sculptra or microneedling can help, and all are offered in Palm Beach Gardens.

Is Botox safe?

Botox has been used for decades for both medical and cosmetic purposes and has a long safety record when given by trained providers. Common side effects are mild and short-lived, such as small bruises, a mild headache or temporary tenderness. Less commonly, a brow or eyelid can droop slightly for a few weeks. Choosing an experienced injector who understands facial anatomy lowers these risks.

Frequently asked questions

Does Botox hurt?

Most people feel a quick pinch. The needles are very fine, and the treatment is over in minutes.

Will I look frozen?

Not if it is done well. We aim for a softer, rested look that still lets you move your face.

What age should I start?

There is no single right age. Some people start in their late 20s or 30s to soften early lines, and others start later. It depends on your goals.

How much does Botox cost?

Pricing depends on the areas treated and the amount of product. See current starting prices on our upfront pricing page.

Can men get Botox?

Yes. Men often need different doses and placement because their muscles are stronger. Many men treat frown lines and forehead lines.
