Injectable Cosmetic Filler Q&A

  • What is injectable filler?

Filler comes in many forms, and is injected under the skin to fill and rejuvente an aging face. Fillers are non-invasive when compared to other treatments such a surgical face lifts, for example, and are highly effective at achieving the desired cosmetic results.

  • Does filler work?

Filler is highly effective as a non-surgical alternative to rejuvenate a more youthful appearance. This is done by eliminating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • How long does filler last?

How long filler lasts depends on the type of filler being used, the area being treated, and your unique biology (although this only varies slightly between people). In general, the below breakdown illustrates the average amount of time that different filler products last

    Belotero – 6-8 months

    Juvederm Voluma – 8-12 months

    Restylane – 6-8 months months

    Bellafill – 5 years

  • Are filler injections painful?

This is highly dependent on the patient, but most patients only experience moderate discomfort to mild pain during injection. To help minimize pain or discomfort, topical numbing cream can be used in advance of the injections.

  • How much filler do I need?

The amount of filler that is needed to achieve the desired effect varies  between people. At Mandel Dermatology, we always listen to each patient’s desired outcome, but also approach cosmetic treatments conservatively, since you can always do more, but cannot reverse the effects of the treatment immediately.

  • How much does filler cost?

The cost of filler ranges based on the number of areas being treated and the amount of filler needed in those areas to achieve the desired and safe results. Filler is typically charged by the syringe. Prices ranges from $750 per syringe to more than $1,000 per syringe. This often depends on the product being used, and the patient’s preferences and desired outcome. Other factors that effect the price are whether or not you are a regular patient of Mandel Dermatology and have enrolled in our Reveal® Membership plan.
